Our girls' football team represented Accrington Stanley in the North West Regional Football Final at the Prairie Sports Village, Burnley. They had an amazing day, playing brilliantly in their matches and enjoying the coaching sessions, mini golf and lunchtime disco! Thankyou to Mr Taylor for his hard work with the team.
As part of Women's History Month and International Women's Day, Lianne Bradford, from Burnley FC, presented an assembly about the development of women's football and sport to our KS1 and 2 children.
All of our children loved watching the M&M production of 'The Railway Children'. Thanks so much to FOPS for subsidising the cost.
Our Year 3 and 4 children thoroughly enjoyed their trip to Clitheroe castle as part of their 'Impact of the Normans' topic. They learned about the different parts of a Motte and Bailey castle , rebuilding a model with sand and lollipop sticks, and about why Clitheroe castle was built and how it has changed.
Some of our Year 5 children attended a cluster Dance workshop at Brookside Primary School today. The were introduced to tap and street dancing and had a great time, working with children from our local cluster schools.
Children in school have loved every minute of our Science week . All children have enjoyed watching the Travelling Science Show and KS1 children were excited to meet all the Zoo Lab animals. Class teachers have planned a range of exciting investigations all week. Thanks to those parents who have come in to talk about their Science related careers and also to Mrs Govender for organising the entire week.

Our Year 6 children took part in the Johnson Matthey Tower Challenge on Friday 26th January. Working together in teams, they competed to build the tallest tower. Well done to our 'Fantastic Five' team for winning the competition with a tower measuring 3.58 metres.
We are so proud of our Girls' Football Team. They played brilliantly in the County Finals and, although not getting through to the next round, should be thrilled with their performance !
Good luck to our Girls’ football team who are representing the Ribble Valley in the Lancashire County Football Finals on Friday in Cleveleys.
We would like to welcome Miss Westwell who is covering Miss Lancaster's maternity leave . She has loved meeting the children in 1RL and is looking forward to getting to know parents and families.
