Time

Telling the time - half past, o'clock, quarter past and quarter to the hour.

 

To get a notion of the duration of a minute.

How many times can you write your name in a minute?

How many bricks can you make into a tower in 1 minute?

How many pegs can you put on a peg board in a minute ? etc

Fractions

Fractions are equal parts of a whole shape or number.

We found  out which numbers could be halved and quartered and which numbers could not be halved or quartered

We found 1/2 and 1/4 of shapes understanding that a fraction is an equal part of a whole.

Fractions

Finding half of a number. The children know that a fraction is an equal part of a whole. They practised writing 1/2 as a digit whilst playing a game where the number they landed on had to be halved.
