PSHE: Me and My Relationships

Today, we learned all about friendships and people around us who can help us. We spoke a lot about our feelings, and used the story “Colour Monster” to help us do this. We spoke about how we want to always feel like the happy, calm or loved colour monsters and want others to feel the same way. We shared ideas of what to do to help others feel this way, and what we can do when we feel like the sad, angry or scared monsters.

Ruth came into school with her cockapoo, Millie. The children were excited to stroke her. We learned how dogs can be trained to help people relax and feel calm.

We drew around one hand, and named 5 people who help us.

During choice time, a group of children started to set up a cinema with chairs. Soon, most of the class were pretending to be in a cinema! I explained to the children that I took my cousin, Mason, to the cinema yesterday and this was something which made me feel like the yellow colour monster! So, we turned off the lights, had our milk and watched an episode of Topsy and Tim just like in a real cinema!

The classroom was lovely and calm as the children took part in the Zen Den meditation!
