Summer 2: Toys

Week Commencing 18th July

Enterprise Winners!!!!! πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ† Thank you for supporting our stall!

We made honey sandwiches and bear biscuits for the teddy bears picnic!

So much fun at our Teddy Bear’s Picnic! Thanks for coming along grown ups! ❀️

Week Commencing 4th July

Superstar children ready to try their best on our Sports Day! So proud of them all!

3D Shape Hunt! We found 3D shapes, sorted them and then hunted for shapes in the environment!

We have loved learning about Trains! We discussed how trains have changed over time, and what trains are like in different countries. We learned about George Stephenson and the first locomotive train. The children were fascinated by the bullet train in Japan!

Looking at trains from around the world, we drew or wrote a sentence about our favourite one!

We have recapped 2D shape in preparation for learning 3D shapes later in the week. The shapes had lost their voices! We needed to match the shape to their voices.

A Magic Ticket appeared in RZ! We discussed where we would like to go if we had a magic ticket to take us on one journey. We then got given our very own magic tickets, but to make them magic we needed to write where we wanted to go! The children had some excellent ideas... catland, football land, granny’s house and many more!

Week Commencing 27th June

The children enjoy having these pictures displayed in the classroom to talk to each other about their favourite toy. Thank you for sending these in!

We have been observing how different objects move through the air. The scarves and feathers floated. The balls bounced. Stones dropped. The balloon popped!

We have been discussing the similarities and differences between churches and mosques.

Our morning sentences are so super!

Week Commencing 20th June

Investigating floating and sinking. We tested how many bears could travel on our toy β€˜boats’ before they sunk!

We love singing the Naughty Bus song to help us retell the story!

I am so proud of the progress we are making in our writing! Nothing better than seeing the children so proud of their hard work! ☺️

We have been learning about the pattern of number beyond 20. The children enjoyed working together to place very big numbers in the correct order, spotting the pattern and telling me about the composition of the numbers (E.g. 54 is made up of 50 and 4 more).

A kind donation of red boxes led us to make our own naughty buses! One of the children suggested adding a string so he could pull it along, which soon led to a classroom full of pull-along naughty buses!

We wrote letters to the Naughty Bus to remind it of our school rules!

Under the mat, we found a book! Perhaps the mess was made by the Naughty Bus!

When we arrived at school on Tuesday, our classroom had been destroyed! We spent a long time searching for clues!

A gift arrived in our classroom with a note. We made predictions. It was a red bus!

Week Commencing 13th June

We have been busy this week. We wrote about toys for our class information book, played with the parachute and even made pizzas to take home for tea!

We have been investigating how our toy cars move on different surfaces.
