ISLAM

During the next few weeks we will study the rituals and importance of prayer to Muslims.

We discussed routines and rituals and recapped what we knew about the Jewish, Christian and Hindu religions.

What do we do everyday that we always complete in the same order?

Waking up and getting ready for school!

As a class we had lots of discussion about the order that was similar or different to our friends. The children made their own lift the flap book.

Wudu

Today we had a long discussion after watching a video on Purple Mash about the ritual of Wudu. The children saw Muslim pupils at a school washing before prayer, We also talked about why parts of the body must be washed in a particular order and linked this to our morning routines.

The children made sentence maps first to use as a guide when recording the order.

We have been studying The Five Pillars of Islam. The children had lots of questions about them especially what fasting involved during Ramadan.

2M have been learning about Ramadan and Eid. With Miss Bowden in the ICT Suite they created Eid cards.
