Summer 1

Living Things and their Habitat.

We have been following the life cycle of a caterpillars and watched then turn into butterflies. We released the butterflies in our school grounds.

The children have been investigating the creatures that live in the micro-habitats in our wildlife garden.

Out in The Wildlife Garden, the children explored microhabitats. They observed the conditions, dark, wet, damp. They looked at which animals and plants lived n the different microhabitats.

The children have been exploring the wildlife garden looking for living, dead and never been living items.

The children were given a selection of pictures to sort into living and dead. The children then learnt about the criteria of living things and re grouped their pictures.

The children went into the wildlife garden to find things that they thought were interesting. We discussed what they thought was interesting about what they had found. This stone had ants living under it - KH, this flower has got some seeds inside - LR, this is fluffy and it looks like a caterpillar - GG.
