Stig of the Dump - Novel as a Theme

This half term we have looked at the story of "Stig of the dump" to introduce this topic the children found a bag full of mysterious items, the children were asked to describe what they could feel what was in the bag before revealing the item. The children had to work together and deduce where the items have come from and how they could be linked together.

After reading the first chapter of Stig of the dump, the children went outiside to explore the nature garden to see what adjectives they could come up with to describe Stig's house and what might be in or around his house. 

The children this week have been looking at their understanding of the story predicting what might happen next. The children used some "tell me" questions to show their knowledge of the story. They were able to use adjectives to describe their different characters' personalities as well as their own thoughts and feelings towards that character. They were able to explain and justify their answers using the text to support them.
