Spring 2 Rivers

Flood alert!!

Today we learnt about how flooding affects people, and in particular we focussed on local flooding issues. We talked about Mrs McLeod's friend who lives in Whalley and who often gets flooded.

We carried out our own flooding scenario; with our partner we made a list of 20 items we would like to take with us if we had to leave our house quickly due to flooding. But then lots of things happened such as water damage and losing bags which meant we had to sacrifice some items!

By the end of our journey our list was a lot different to the beginning, and it really made us think both about practicalities and sentimentality of items we own.

The Water Cycle

We have been investigating condensation and evaporation.

Today we 'made' the journey of the River Ribble - it was a bit tricky! We had the whole journey of the river from its source to the mouth, over 13 map pages! We had to use the 'clues' we know about, including knowing the town where the River Ribble has its mouth, and the fact that the river is narrower at its source, to recreate the journey. We did exceptionally well and Mrs McLeod was very impresed!
