Spring 2

The Romans

Why on earth did the Romans leave sunny Italy to invade this cold rainy island? We acted as advisors for emperor Claudius in AD43 telling him reasons why he should or should not invade Britain.

We then formed two groups - for and against invading- and advised a very strange looking Claudius on what he should do!

We spied on a Roman soldier, captured and interviewed him, then reported back to our Celtic chief. He gave away some secrets about the organisation of the Roman army, their weapons and armour.

Here are some of our brilliant letters! 3K used their historical enquiry skills and really got into character.

Why did Boudicca lead a rebellion against the Romans?

We sequenced the events leading up to Boudicca’s death, then made a human graph. If the event was good for Boudicca we stepped forward, and if it was bad, we stepped back.

We wanted to find out about how Romans lived, so we spied on the new Roman town and shared information with our team, then drew a plan showing the features we had discovered.
