Spring 2

Weather themed investigations.

We went on a spring walk to look for signs of spring. We took photos of what we observed and looked carefully to create our amazing observational drawings.

We have been thinking about how important the sun is but how it can be dangerous too. We had fun exploring shadows. We found ways to make our shadow grow and shrink. We used the dark den to explore making shadows with torches. We noticed that if we moved the torch the shadow got bigger and smaller.

We have been observing the wind. We talked about when wind is helpful and when it is not. We know the washing gets dry on a windy day and wind turbines need the wind to make electricity. We also thought about when wind blows trees down and causes damage or blows umbrellas inside out. We went outside to observe the wind around school with flags, scarves and our wind socks. We thought about where it was the windiest and why. Ask us and we will tell you lots of interesting things!

Weather detectives. We went outside to find clues about the weather. We found shadows, snow on Pendle hill, branches moving, hail stones and muddy puddles.
