Bonne Annee! On Friday 6th January we learned about the French tradition of celebrating ‘la fete des rois’. All you need is ‘une galette, une couronne et une feve’.
Our ‘galette des Rois’ = cake of the Kings.
The youngest person decides who can have a piece of cake.
One piece has a charm hidden inside it.
Whoever gets it...
Is King for the day!
They also choose a partner who can be King or Queen with them!
This began in Roman times, when one slave was treated to any wishes they wanted.
How many items of clothing can you say you are wearing in French?! 5R can remember so much vocabulary, and using the verb ‘porter’ can describe what they are wearing using colours. Superbe!
