Spring 1

Researching an animal that lives in a cold place ahead of writing our own non-chronological report!

Outdoor Learning! We practised saying a question about tigers before drawing a question mark with chalk...

Learning about the features of a non-chronological report. We created actions to help us remember them, before labelling our own.

Sorting through true and false statements all about tigers. We thought about what we already knew about tigers, before thinking of what we wanted to find out. We focussed on our SPAG skill question marks, orally rehearsing our questions before mimicking them in the air. We also watched a video all about tigers, ask your child what they learnt!

Innovating the story of ‘Lost and Found’. Instead of finding a penguin, we linked our learning to our Geography unit ‘Hot and Cold places’. We researched animals further to find out which continents they were from. We can’t wait to get writing our stories this week!

Story mapping and orally retelling ‘Lost and Found’ ...

We found out the suitcase came from the South Pole! We found a penguin with a lost sign attached to him. We tried to help and created our very own ‘Found’ poster. We used adjectives to describe what he looked like…

Something unexpected happened within 1D! We found a suitcase with a lost sign attached to it. We had to predict what was inside it! We thought of questions too - where did it come from? Who does it belong to?
