This week we have been learning about money. The children went to Mrs Worsley’s toy shop to buy two toys, they had to add the prices together to find the value of their chosen toys.

The children have been enjoying their outdoor learning. We have been recapping doubling numbers using the partition, double, recombined method.

The children have been investigating coins. They have been learning the value of all the coins.

The children have been recapping mass. They had five item and had to order them from heaviest to lightest.

The children have been filling a selection of containers to different volumes using ml.

The children have been learning about capacity and volume. Which container holds the most?

We have been recapping our numbers by completing the number sentence with greater than, less than or equals symbols.

The children have been finding 1/2 and 1/4 of different amounts.

Does the picture show half? Is it a quarter? The children sorted a range of pictures considering if the parts were equal.

We have been recapping statistics by collecting a range of leaves, stone and stick, then using them to creat a bar graph. The children the used the data to answer questions. What was the most common item collected? How many more stones did you collect than sticks?

The children enjoyed their aerobics maths outside, practicing counting in 2s.

This week we are learning about fractions. We discussed that a fraction is equal parts of the whole. The children made their own fraction wall showing the whole, halves and quarters.

Recapping - odd or even?

The children used Smarties to create a tally chart. They then used the information to answer questions about the different colours of smarties in the tube. What was the most popular colour? How many more red Smarties are there than orange Smarties?

The children have been recapping shape. They asked their partner to find their shape by describing its properties.

We have been representing numbers using jotting and partitioning.
