PSHE

Keeping Myself Safe

Another busy PSHE themed day! We discussed ways to keep safe, including at school, at home and on the internet. The children enjoyed the story 'Chicken Clicking' and we talked about why it is important to stay safe online, we looked at things that are safe and unsafe to touch and we had a debate! The children had to decide whether they think we should have rules at school. They argued yes or no and had to give reasons:

"Yes, because if there are no rules you might hurt yourself" - CT

"Yes, because if you don't have rules you won't know how to play and have gentle hands" - SL

"Yes, because if there are no rules you won't be nice to your friends and you might hurt their feelings" - LP

"Yes, because we might break things and we wouldn't have anything to play with" - BH

Odd Sock Day/Valuing Differences

We made kindness rosettes, cards for our friends and 'unique' sock puppets.

Me and My Relationships

Another successful PSHE themed day in 1/RL. We thought about people who are important to us and people who can help us if something is wrong or making us unhappy. We drew around our hands and drew 5 people we could think of. We also enjoyed role playing and dressing up as some of these people (including Miss Lancaster). We also discussed what makes us special and our feelings. The children made 'feeling faces' on the creative table and in the play dough.

We also 'praise post' for people we think deserve our praise.

Charity Day

Charity Day was a huge success in 1/RL! The children took part in many different activities throughout the day that made them think about how special and important the Guide Dog charity is. The children explored their 5 senses; their sense of smell by guessing the food whilst being blindfolded, their sense of touch by creating a texture hand and describing how each material felt, their sense of hearing by making and using musical instruments, their sense of sight by writing their name and drawing a picture whilst blindfolded and their sense of taste by eating yummy cakes! Thank you for all your donations.
