Relationship tree

We discussed lots of different types of relationships, some listed below:

  • parents/carers
  • siblings
  • aunts
  • friends
  • leaders of groups outside school

We considered things that make positive relationships such as trust and respect. We added these to our relationship tree on leaves. We then thought about who we have relationships with and added these to the trunk. We then discussed in pairs and groups how we achieve trust, respect and our other ideas which make relationships positive, such as, for trust this might be

‘…being able to talk to the person about anything.’

Body space

This morning we talked about body space. We discussed the importance of respecting other people’s body space. We talked about inviting someone into our body space, like hugging a relative or playing a game of tig. We then spoke about what to do if someone invaded our body space and we don’t want them to.
We thought about statements such as:

  • You are too close to me, please move.
  • Can you give me a bit of space please?
  • You are making me feel uncomfortable.

We then began to talk PANTS. PANTS helps children understand that their body belongs to them, and they should tell someone they trust if anything makes them feel upset or worried.

We designed pants and use some or all of the PANTS acronym. We then hung these onto washing lines and displayed them on the LKS2 corridor.
