Geography

Summer 1

The children learnt all about aboriginal paintings. They used cotton buds to create their own pictures.

The children have been learning about the continents and the equator. We discussed that the nearest continents to the equator are the hottest. We imagined we were stood at the equator and were we boiling hot.

The children then had a jigsaw of the continents to place on their world map.

Spring 2 - Weather

We have been finding out about the points on a compass, North, south, East and West. The children have been learning about the wind and we wanted to find out what direction the wind was blowing. The children made wind vanes using the four points on the compass. We went out side and lined our wind vanes up with the compass direction. The children then watched their wind vane to find out what direction the wind was blowing.

The children went outside to observe the weather.

The children have been drawing the different weather symbols.

Autumn 1 - I Live in Clitheroe

The children have enjoyed looking at Clitheroe on the map and finding different places they have been to. They used the maps app on the ipads to explore the local area.

The children discussed how they would improve the playground. What super ideas!

The children have been exploring the school grounds identifying human and physical features. They created a map of the school.
