Creating interest

We began our English unit by listening to a sound clip.  The children noted down what COULD be making the sound and what COULD NOT.

It was revealed as a pack of wolves howling!

Then, the children thought about what familiar stories they knew that had a wolf as the main character.  We thought about the traditional tales 'Little Red Riding Hood' and 'The Three Little Pigs' and noted down adjectives to describe how the wolf behaves in those stories. The word jar was it up and we learnt a new word which was scheming!
