We explored symmetry to create butterflies for a whole school display!
It was exciting to open up our folded cards!
We learned about Rosa Parks, and explored rules which are fair and unfair.
Indian Dance Workshop - the children were so super!
As part of Inter-Faith week, we have explored different groups that others and us are a part of. Miss Zak shared some images of the groups I was a part of when I was younger, and the children have drawn groups they are a part of. Within this, we have also explored different religious groups and discussed what people do to show they are part of a specific group.
We're All Wonders!
We shared the book, 'We're All Wonders' which highlights how important it is to always be kind.
After reading the book, We're All Wonders, we discussed how important it is to always have a kind heart. We agreed that it would be boring if we were all the same (and very confusing!) so our differences make us special and should be celebrated! The children enjoyed small acts of kindness, such as making friendship bracelets and creating a kind heart for someone else.
Our Ninja Word this week is 'fair' - we spoke about how important it is to treat other people fairly and categorised different choices into fair and unfair.
A super week with GoVelo practising to ride balance and pedal bikes! We are all so proud!
A visit from a special person!
We were so excited for our visitor, Nurse Zak! & she was so excited to be in class too. She told us all about what it's like to be a nurse, showed us some of the equipment nurses may use and helped us to help our poorly teddies!
We have started using a part-whole model to partition small amounts into 2 groups. The children were great at placing a numberblock in the whole and then splitting into 2 parts and explaining how many in each part. We now know that "Part add part equals whole." and that 'whole' is just another word for "altogether."
We have made Thank you cards for real life superheroes! This card is for our wonderful school dinner ladies, and even has a bottle top hook for them to hang it up in their kitchen!
Our number of the week is 6! Our five frame wasn't big enough for 6, so now we have a tens frame! We have been representing 6 on the tens frame, and recognising that 6 is made up of 5 and 1.
We received an important letter. We talked about how we would prepare for the challenge. We decided we needed to have big strong muscles and be super healthy. We know we need to eat fruit and vegetables. We braved the wind to get fresh air and exercise. We explored how germs can spread and the need to wash our hands properly.
Representing 5. How do we know it’s 5??? “Because the 5 frame is FULL.”
How exciting to be in school for Halloween! Pumpkins to explore, costumes to wear and halloween music to show off our best dancing! A super day!
