Autumn 2

Clitheroe- a local study

This week our question was- ‘Has Pendle Primary changed over the years?’ We have been looking at artefacts to help answer the question. We were interested to read letters from 1981 telling the then head teacher how children could be disciplined. We fascinated to read the punishments some children got from walking on the grass. Other changes included the building being extended, sitting on wooden chairs in the hall for lunch.

We sorted the artefacts into chronological order, and discussed the changes through the decades

This week we have been investigating the mills in Clitheroe and how they have changed over the years.

This week we considered the changes that have occurred at Clitheroe Castle through the years… did you know the castle was first built from wood that was imported from Normandy? That Clitheroe castle as we know it was built from stone quarried from Salthill Quary Clitheroe over 800 years ago?
Please ask your child to share some facts about the castles history.

This week we created a board game all about Clitheroe. To win the game you had to be the first person to move around the board following the chronology of Clitheroe.
