Autumn 2

We enjoyed observing our glitter flitter jars.

Health - how we grow and stay healthy.

Can you always see sugar ? We learnt about how much sugar is in different foods. We investigated what happened when we mixed different types of sugar with water. We know that sometimes the sugar is there but you can’t see it.

Do all satsumas have 10 segments? We decided we needed to look inside the satsumas to find the answer. We recorded the number of segments and talked about what we found out. We wondered if anyone has ever had a satsuma with more than 11 segments?

We thought about different ways we can exercise and why it is important to exercise regularly. It was pouring down so we exercised inside. We noticed changes to our body when we exercise. We were hot and our hearts were pumping fast. We went outside to make an obstacle course to get some exercise. We danced and made bell wrist and ankle bands following our Indian Dance Workshop.

We thought about things we know that can help to keep us healthy. We explored how germs can spread and the importance of good hygiene. We used glitter and pepper to represent the germs. The glitter ‘germs’ spread across all our hands, we needed soap to wash them away. We could see the pepper ‘germs’ move away from the soap.
