Autumn 2

We conducted an investigation to compare how things move on different surfaces. We tested a spinning top on five different surfaces and recorded our results.

We had lots of fun exploring magnets. We discovered that Magnets have two ends. We call these their north pole and south pole. When two of the same poles are placed close together they repel (push apart) each other. When two different poles are close, they attract (pull together) each other. Magnets only need to be near each other to attract and repel. They don't need to be touching. The space around a magnet has attracting and repelling forces. These are strongest at the poles of the magnets.

Wow an amazingly fun way to begin our topic! We loved exploring a range of toys and investigating push and pull forces. We moved around a carousel of toys from pull back racing cars to slinkys. We had great fun.
