Autumn 1 Senses

Smelly pots- using our sense of smell to identify the mystery smells.

We tasted some mystery drinks - what flavour is it? ( Mrs Govender reassured us that they were all safe for us to drink.) We could taste oranges, strawberries, mint, jelly. But we had been tricked- they were all lemonade!

Exploring our sense of hearing. We went on a sound walk and talked about the different sounds, what happened as the sound got nearer? We investigated how the sound of a bell was effected when it was covered in different materials. We gave some fantastic explanations about what why the bell was louder or quieter.

Exploring our sense of sight. We carried out a simple investigation. We discovered that it is easier to see big objects further away than small objects. We enjoyed exploring with the torches in the dark den.

Exploring using all our senses. We know we have 5 senses and which body parts are used for each sense. We know we can feel things on our skin, not just with our hands.

We started our science topic by thinking about our body parts. We labelled different body parts. We looked closely at our hands and recorded what we observed.
