This week we have been learning about sequences. We have investigated finding the term -to - term rule in linear sequences, and then the position-to-term rule in linear sequences. We now understand what is meant by the 'nth term' and can find and use a formula to find any number in a linear sequence. We are learning about number sequences and algebra this week. The children have been exploring function machines, and using the inverse to find out but the output and input.

6A recapped their knowledge of place value by working in pairs to solve the treasure hunt outside. They needed to use their prior knowledge of the place value of numbers in the clues they were given to find subsequent answers. Some of the questions required the children to also apply their knowledge of times table facts to be able to accurately identify the mystery numbers. The children had lots of fun, and lots of mathematical discussions and reasoning took place.
