This half term is based around a theme of ‘There’s No Place Like Home’. Our learning consists of two English units:

 

Folk Tales & Recount: Biographies

Writing a biography on the professional footballer and past Pendle Primary pupil Leighton Clarkson.

We have been finding out about the life of professional footballer Leighton Clarkson who once attended Pendle Primary School. Here we are recording key information to help us when we write our biography.

We found out about the extraordinary life of Mary Seacole. We chose key events from her life to be displayed in chronological order on our Black History Month display on the LKS2 corridor.

Beginning our new Biography topic. Choosing a significant individual and creating a Biography cover in the style of the Puffin Extraordinary Lives series

Identifying nouns and then playing a dice game to decide whether to use a or an.

Lots of fun playing a Prepositions board game.

Exploring character dialogue through the use of speech bubbles.

Creating a dice grid to practise our use of prepositions.

Identifying and using prepositions in our writing.

We created a story map about The Tin Forest.

Formulating questions about a character.

Describing a setting using our five senses.

We started the new school year by writing about our favourite day during the summer holidays.
