Australia

We have started this unit by looking at and identifying the different continents and oceans that make up our world. We looked at how close Australia was away from the equator and identified it was in the southern hemisphere. 

We have started to identify the human and physical features of Australia. This week we focused more on the physical features. Do you recognise any of these?

We have been identifying the similarities and differences in Perth Australia to here in the Uk.

We have been comparing the river Ribble to the rivers Swan and Canning in Australia. We considered why Perth became a settlement and looked at some of the industries that work alongside the rivers. We loved using atlases, Digimaps, Google maps and photographs to make our comparisons. 

Today we compared Alice Springs, Australia to Clitheroe. We used atlases, digital maps, aerial photographs and watch clips to help us gain a better understanding.
