Our School
We started our topic by discussing where in the world Clitheroe was, linking it to our previous topics The United Kingdom and Hot and Cold Places. We recapped what Human and Physical features are, and identified some of these from our area.
We carried out some fieldwork, and developed our mapping skills- we learnt about ‘birds eye view’ when mapping.
We looked at and learnt how to navigate digital maps.
Fieldwork- we identified the human and physical features in the area around school. We identified different house types and what street furniture we could spot.
We identified an issue in the immediate area around school. We felt too many cars parked on the pavements. We carried out fieldwork to ensure this really was a problem, then created some flyers to leave on the cars to explain why parking on the pavement has an impact to the children leaving school.
We love reading geography books, atlases and maps whenever we can.
We used our iPads to create information leaflets about Clitheroe, the area around school and why it is important to us.
