Spring 2 Plant Growth
We have set up a comparative test to see what conditions Sweet Pea seeds need to grow.
We have planted seeds :
A with light and warmth but no water
B with water and warmth but no light (in the cupboard)
C with water and light but no warmth (in the freezer)
D with water, light and warmth
We made predictions about what we think will happen.
We observed how our seeds had grown. The only ones that had grown in to healthy shoots were the seeds with light, water and warmth.
We looked at plants in the school grounds. We talked about what we noticed.
We wanted to investigate if seeds can grow without soil. So we planted cress seeds on sand, pizza, sponge and lettuce!
We also planted some seeds and gave them milk instead of water. We are going to observe their growth to see if they grow into healthy plants.
The results…
The healthiest plants grew from the seeds planted in soil that had water, light and warmth.
