Which materials are absorbent?

Investigating the properties of different materials from objects around school. We then sorted according to two opposite properties

A book has got wet from a leaky water bottle. How can we protect the book so it doesn’t get wet again? We planned our own investigations . We thought about which materials were waterproof. We wondered if putting a sponge next to the book would absorb all the water. We made predictions and tested our ideas.
