Our theme is “Leavers Songs”
We will:
- Identify and evaluate the musical features of a song.
- Contribute ideas to their group chorus, suggesting how lines three and four could rhyme.
- Contribute ideas to their group verse, suggesting how lines one and four and five and eight could rhyme.
- Fit an existing melody over a four-chord backing track.
- Create a melody that fits both the lyrics and the four-chord backing track of the chorus, using tuned percussion instruments.
- Record melodies using letter notation.
- Perform the leavers’ song with confidence.
South and West Africa
In this unit we will-
- Recognising and confidently discussing the stylistic features of different genres, styles and traditions of music using musical vocabulary.
- Sing using the correct pronunciation and with increasing confidence.
- Play a chord with two notes, remaining in time.
- Maintain their part in a performance with accuracy.
- Play the more complicated rhythms in time and with rests.
- Create an eight beat break and play this in the correct place.
Spring 2
Composition to represent the festival of colour (Theme: Holi festival)
In this unit we will explore the associations between music, colour and sounds.
Dynamics, Pitch and Texture
Appraising the work of Mendelssohn and developing our improvisation and composition skills.
Whilst listening to Fingal cave we considered what the music made is think of. We considered how the composer depicted the waves making the music louder and quieter.
During this block we will be using the iPad to compose our own piece of music.
