Forest Friday

Minibeast hunt! πŸ•·οΈπŸžπŸŒπŸ›πŸͺ±

Creating rainbows! 🌈

Happy Holi! We have been learning about the Hindu festival of colour, Holi.

We enjoyed drawing things that are "wonderful" on our Earth!

Hanging up our bird feeeders! We hope the birds enjoy them.

We have been making bird seeders to feed the birds in winter. We are hoping to see some birds eating the food.

We listened to a poem called "Cold" by Shirley Hughes. After that, we went on a winter walk!

Bonfire celebrations! The children worked together to collect sticks for a Bonfire. We enjoyed talking about the size and weight of the them! Who can find the heaviest? The lightest? longest? The shortest? We also enjoyed learning about Guy Fawkes. We also ate our edible sparklers and sang Bonfire songs. Lots of wonderful memories made.

We enjoyed the story of the "Leaf Man" and discussed signs of Autumn. Before making our own leaf pictures, we gathered some autumnal treasures. We had fish, butterflies, chickens, and even Miss Bottrell! We thought they were incredible. The children wanted to take their autumnal finds home so they could create more pictures!

Some of the final pieces!

As we have been learning about different types of houses and homes, the children have shown interest in animal homes. Before we explored and discovered what creatures are living in our wildlife garden, we talked about all the different habitats that animals have. We discussed the importance of some of these animals and the need for us to protect their habitat. Another fun Friday!

A very important message!

We had a wonderful time during our first Forest Friday session in Cherry Class. We listened to a story called "The Leaf Theif” before becoming a squirrel and hiding our own nuts ready for the winter. We had to try and remember where we had put them. We talked about being "Ready, Respectful, and Safe." The children worked together, helped each other, and smiled all afternoon! We are looking forward to going into our wildlife garden next week for more adventures.

Puddle jumping!
