Autumn 1 - The Jolly Postman

We enjoyed becoming story tellers to retell our Jolly Postman story!

Can you tell your grown ups our story?

Cinderella replied to our questions with some pictures of her wedding! We were then able to complete Peter Piper’s story by writing our own book!

We wrote our questions and posted them to Cinderella!

There was a letter in the book from Peter Piper. He wants us to help him write a book about Cinderella’s wedding! We have been asking questions to find out about Cinderella’s wedding…

Where was the wedding?

Did she have flip flops on?
Was anyone poorly at the wedding?

What colour were your shoes?

Did Cinderella have a tiara on?
When she went to the wedding, did she have a cake?
Did you have steak and chips?
Did you have a kiss?
What did you do at the wedding?

Using adjectives (describing words) to talk about characters from the Jolly Postman.

We read our first letter in the story! We then identified features of letters and had a go at writing our own letters which included ‘Dear’ and ‘From’.

A book was inside our envelope! We took a look at the main character, the Jolly Postman. We talked about the word jolly, and what postal workers do. We then discussed and wrote what we know about the character before even opening the story.

Making predictions. What’s in the envelope?

We had a special challenge to write using correctly formed letters. We did a super job at remembering!
