At Clitheroe Primary School, we are proud to be developing the use of Makaton across the whole school to support communication, inclusion and understanding for all children. Every child in school will be learning Makaton, helping to create a shared language that supports both spoken communication and understanding of key concepts. To embed this approach, we will be introducing one new Makaton sign or action each week, led by our two qualified Makaton teachers, Miss Lancaster and Miss Cowperthwaite. This whole-school approach will help ensure consistency, build confidence, and promote an inclusive environment where all children can thrive.

There will be a new sign added each week – we will learn these as a class and also in assemblies.
