    WB 09.02.26

    Art

In art, the children have been creating impressive relief sculptures by layering different cardboard shapes and adding paint to bring depth and texture to their designs.

    Geography

Our geography lessons have taken us to the desert biome, where we’ve been learning about its human and physical features, with a particular focus on how Las Vegas manages to thrive in such a challenging environment.

    PRSHE

In PRSHE, we’ve been marking World Mental Health Week, reflecting on wellbeing and the importance of looking after ourselves—and the children have loved being able to wear their slippers in school to help promote comfort and calm.

    King Charles visit

This week was an extra special week because on Monday morning we were all lucky enough to watch the King drive past on his royal visit to the Ribble Valley.

    WB 02.02.26

    DT

In DT, the children focused on different types of joints, using hacksaws, bench hooks and rulers to carefully measure and cut square-section wood. They created two types of joins—a butt joint and a lap joint—developing both accuracy and confidence with tools.

    Science

In science, the children let their imaginations soar as they designed their own satellites aimed at helping remove space junk from orbit, resulting in lots of thoughtful and inventive ideas.

    History

Finally, in History, we have been exploring the differences between the city states of Athens and Sparta. The children looked at differences such as education, culture and democracy. Then, the children wrote their own persuasive paragraph explaining which city they would have preferred to live in and why.

    WB 26.01.26

    Art:

In art, we have been designing our own relief sculptures using layers of card and carefully chosen shapes that represent some of our happiest memories.

    Geography:

In geography, we explored the world’s continents and learnt about the largest deserts found on each one, comparing their climates and unique features.

    PE/Music:

To end the week with energy and excitement, we had a fantastic visit from Druhm aloud, where the whole class took part in an active drumming session that filled the room with rhythm, teamwork and lots of smiles.

    WB 19.01.26

    DT:

In DT, the children explored frames and structures, with a particular focus on triangulation. They designed and built small bridges, testing them carefully to see how strong and stable they were.

    English and History:

In English and History, we have been learning all about the Ancient Greek gods. The children enjoyed researching different gods and goddesses and used their findings to create informative and eye‑catching posters.

    Science:

Finally, in Science, we took part in an exciting online lesson with 750 other schools, where we learnt about space, satellites and space debris, sparking lots of curiosity and thoughtful questions.

    WB 12.01.2026

    Art:
In Art this week, we continued our work linked to Ancient Greece by designing and sculpting our own mythical creatures from clay. The children experimented with different techniques to create texture, form and detail, bringing to life fantastical beasts inspired by Greek legends. They worked thoughtfully and creatively, resulting in some wonderfully imaginative sculptures.

    RE:
In RE, we took on the role of researchers and created our own Wikipedia-style pages all about Christian beliefs regarding heaven and life after death. The children organised their information carefully, using subheadings and factual writing to explain key ideas clearly. This activity helped deepen our understanding of how Christians view the afterlife and encouraged lots of reflective discussion.

    Science:

In Science this week, we’ve been exploring the wonders of our solar system. The children learnt about each planet and their unique features, from scorching temperatures to icy atmospheres. To deepen their understanding, they created detailed diagrams showing all eight planets in order from the Sun, adding key facts.

    WB 05.01.2026

    Gymnastics:
This week, our class has been developing strength and balance through a range of gymnastics activities. The children practised different balances and rolls, working hard to perfect their movements and improve coordination.

    History:
In history, we explored the fascinating world of Ancient Greece. The children created detailed timelines to understand key events and how they shaped Greek civilisation. This helped us see the bigger picture of life in ancient times and sparked lots of interesting discussions.

    Art & Literacy:
To bring Greek myths to life, we combined creativity and storytelling by designing our own comic strips of the famous tale of Perseus and the Gorgon Medusa. The children loved illustrating dramatic scenes and adding dialogue to capture the excitement of this legendary story!

    Science

This week we have been learning about the different models and theories of space. We have really enjoyed exploring space and looking at where the different planets are in relation to each other. Children can use the link to explore.
