  • Summer 2

Our new topic this half-term is "Under the Sea."

The children will dive into an exciting underwater adventure through a range of engaging stories such as Commotion in the Ocean, Sally and the Limpet and Pirates Love Underpants.

In Geography, the children will explore the coast, learning about different geographical features, including land and water. We will also discuss how and why people visit different places for different reasons, including seaside locations.

In Science, we will investigate materials and our senses, helping the children understand the world around them through hands-on exploration and discovery.

In Design and Technology (DT), we will be exploring food. The children will take part in making “A Feast for a Pirate,” where they will prepare and enjoy some pirate-themed food.

    Week 6 - Owl Board

Super homework! A created this fantastic shark and was very proud to show it to the class. Well done!

We continued our quest to find the Golden Underpants! We used a story map to help us plan and write postcards to our loved ones, telling them all about our exciting journey and the discoveries we had made along the way.

    Week 5 - Owl Board

What a fantastic Pirate Day! Thank you for all the amazing effort with the brilliant pirate costumes. The children followed a treasure map, made telescopes and their own treasure maps, enjoyed pirate dancing, completed an obstacle course (including walking the plank!) and, of course, found the treasure... a gold bar!

Pirates Love Underpants! We were so excited to receive a message from the pirates telling us they had lost the Golden Underpants! We went on a quest to help find them by creating our own treasure/story maps and describing different parts of the pirates' journey.

In Maths, Reception explored the inverse using part-part-whole models. We learnt how addition and subtraction are linked. For example: 3 + 2 = 5 and 5 − 3 = 2.

    Week 4 - Owl Board

In Geography, we learnt about what a coast is and talked about the different things we might find there. Afterwards, we created some beautiful sea pictures.

We really enjoyed reading our Sally and the Limpet stories to Holly class and listening to their stories as well.

    Week 3 - Owl Board

In Maths, Reception have been exploring patterns!

We have been busy making our own rock pools! We have filled them with lots of wonderful sea creatures. What creatures will you find?

We have loved exploring the story of Sally and the Limpet! We really enjoyed retelling the story and are super storytellers.

    Week 2 - Owl Board

We explored rock pools and used our Ninja Words in our sentences. Can the children remember what the Ninja Words are?

After exploring the story Sally and the Limpet, Reception created their own small-world places and worked together to make a rock pool. They explored how places can have different features, including land and water. The children added animals and objects, discussing where they belong.

    Week 1 - Owl Board

In Maths, the Year 1's have been exploring Capacity and Volume.

We are very proud of our finished shields and enjoyed creating them. They look amazing!

In PRSHE, we have been learning about how we change as we grow. We were delighted to have a special visit from Miss DeRosa and her beautiful baby girl!

In Maths, Reception children explored 3D shapes. They investigated which shapes would be best for building a tower and discussed the properties of different shapes. The children talked about features such as flat faces, curved surfaces and whether shapes could stack easily.

We received an exciting letter from the sea creatures! We used exciting vocabulary to describe them and put the words into sentences. Mrs Nunns couldn't believe how beautiful our writing was. We are very proud of ourselves!
