    Welcome to Summer 1. Please choose an activity or activities from the list below. Each project links to a different subject area and enhances work already covered in class. Please submit your finished piece by Monday 18th May 2026.

    Completed tasks can either be sent to the class email address or brought into school. Have fun!

    PE

    Use the following website to research games played by the Maya. Challenge your family to play your own version of the game. You can only use your elbows, hips or knees to keep the ball in the air. Take a photo of your efforts!

    Use the following website to explore food eaten by the Maya. Then, with adult support, make a hot chocolate drink for you or a member of your family. Ask your family member to give you a mark out of 10 and to critique your skills.

    History

    Use the website below to investigate how the Maya lived. Look at the shape of their buildings and temples. Create your own temple or town using Lego, junk material or on Minecraft (with adult supervision). Take a photo of your creation.

    Create a holiday brochure advertising a trip to visit the city of Tikal. This can be to visit the ruins in the present day, or as a trip back in time.

    The Maya created special calendars to help them know when to plant crops. Create your own calendar to show important dates you need to remember, such as – school holidays, birthdays, religious days and special events.

    Geography

    Locate where the Ancient Maya lived on world map and research facts about this place. Try to include physical and human features in your fact file too.

    Create your own magic flute or set of stick puppets out of junk materials to help you act out the story of the Pied Piper of Hamelin. Present your story version to your family.

    Create a diary entry from the perspective of the Mayor of Hamelin. Record his feelings when the rats invaded and how he felt when the stranger appeared.
