    PRSHE 💬

In PSHE this week, the children discussed the effects that alcohol, medicine and smoking can have on the body. They learned about how these substances can impact health and why it is important to make safe and informed choices.

    History 🏺

In History this week, the children explored how Lahore was connected to important trade routes, helping them understand why trade was so important in the past. They located the different trade routes on their map, including the Silk Road, and discussed the risks and rewards faced by merchants and travellers.

     English ✍️

In English this week, the children researched their chosen country and gathered key facts. They then used their notes to write a non-chronological report, organising their ideas clearly and presenting information under different headings. The children used the iPads working on keynotes to create their reports.

    Sports Day 🏃‍♀️

Sports Day was a fantastic event and the children thoroughly enjoyed taking part in a wide range of activities. In the morning, they had the opportunity to try long jump, hurdles, archery and a penalty shoot-out. In the afternoon, they showed great teamwork and enthusiasm as they competed in the traditional Sports Day races. It was wonderful to see such positive attitudes, effort and support for one another throughout the day.

    Art 🎨

In Art this week, we have been researching crowns and tiaras as inspiration for our metal sculptures. The children have been practising how to manipulate metal wire by twisting, joining pieces, adding beads and creating spirals. This has helped them develop their skills and creativity ready for designing their own unique pieces.

    Maths 🧮

We have been using counters to explore place value by counting in 10s, 100s and 1,000s. We focused on noticing which digits change and which stay the same and what happens when numbers cross boundaries (e.g. 190 to 200 or 999 to 1,000). This hands-on approach helped the children understand number patterns and how our number system works.

    Music

In Music this week, we have been learning to sing Shosholoza, a traditional African song. The children have been practising the rhythm and melody, as well as developing their confidence when singing together as a group.

    Art 🎨
In Art, the children studied zoomed‑in sections of our stimulus picture for the upcoming art exhibition. They carefully observed what they could see, discussing fine details and sharing their ideas about what the full artwork might be. The children were very excited when the full picture was revealed: A Muse by Cosimo Tura.

    English ✍️
In English, the children used a zone of relevance to explore the lion’s personality from our story The Lion’s Revenge on Man‑kin. They thought carefully about his actions, thoughts and feelings, before generating thoughtful questions they would like to ask him. We then invited the lion into class for a hot‑seating activity, where the children asked their questions and explored his viewpoint in role.

    History 🏺
In History, the children have been learning about Ranjit Singh. They researched him by reading information displayed around the school and gathered key facts. Using what they learnt, the children then created a double‑page spread, presenting their knowledge clearly and creatively.

    W.B. 20/04/26

    Geography 🌍
In Geography, the children learnt about different energy sources and investigated when they became widely available. They then sorted these into renewable and non-renewable categories before exploring the trade routes used to transport energy sources around the world.

    PSRHE 💬
In PSRHE, the children have been discussing mental health. They learnt about ways to look after their own mental wellbeing and discussed who they can talk to and what they can do if they need support.

    Behaviour Reward ⭐
The children and Mrs Worsley all thoroughly enjoyed the inflatable behaviour reward treat, which was a fantastic way to celebrate their positive attitudes and efforts.

    W.B. 13/04/26

    Maths 🧮
We have been learning how to find the volume of cuboids by using cubes to build and count them. The children then extended this by finding the volume of cuboids with some cubes missing, using their understanding to work out how many cubes there should be altogether.

    English ✏️
In English, the children have been checking sentences for correct punctuation. They practised deciding whether a sentence was punctuated correctly and then corrected any incorrect sentences.

    PE 🏃‍♀️
In PE, the children have been developing their fitness and coordination. They timed themselves running to and from cones, explored how many jumps were needed to move between cones and practised throwing a beanbag as far as possible using an underarm throw.
