    Owl Board

     In Science, we had fun investigating alternatives for glue to stick back on Nobot's bottom! Would jam, syrup, ketchup or butter be the strongest? We predicted and tested our ideas. 

     

    Week 4 - wb 16.3.2026

    Owl Board

    We had a fabulous Friday, wearing something funny for money for Comic Relief. We learnt about the work of the charity and how laughing is good for our mental health.

            

    In PE, we practised accurate underarm throwing, aiming at a target.

                    

    We created our Woven Wonders in Art.  The children enjoyed the lesson and their creative talents were evident!

    Year 1 children worked out the missing numbers in addition calculations in Maths

    Miss Markham recreated a school day from the past in History, she was extremely strict!  We wrote down which period of time we prefer for school life.

      

      

    In Science, we went outside to look at the properties of objects we found. We tried to make careful observations to record what we saw.  

            

    Week 3 - wb 9.3.2026

    Owl Board

    In English, we looked at the features of leaflets.

      

    We are writing a leaflet about the school's Wildlife Garden.  We completed an eye-catching front cover. 

      

    In RE, we learnt about the importance of prayer in Islam.  We invited one of our school faith ambassadors to explain how she prays then we designed a prayer mat. 

          

    We looked back at the four joins that we practised: whip stitch, running stitch, glued and stapled, in order to produce our designs in DT.

      

    In Music, we listened to a piece to hear the dynamics. Dynamics tell us how loud or quiet the music should be. We practised playing our instruments both quietly and loudly.

    Week 2 - wb 2.3.2026

    Owl Board

     We had a reading packed World Book Day. We enjoyed the wordless picture book 'Tuesday' and were inspired to create our own stories called 'Thursday.' We played reading games in PE, went on a book treasure hunt, read books in the library, enjoyed having cosy reads with our blankets and bears and to end the day we shared books with our grown ups.

              

    In Art, we learnt how to weave.  

      

     

    We considered morning and afternoon routines in our lives in RE.

    Year 2 learnt about capacity and volume in their Maths lessons. 

    In History, we compared a classroom 100 years ago with a modern day classroom.

     We explored tempo changes through movement in Music.

      

    In English, we wrote a thought bubble for one of the main characters from the story 'Goat and Donkey in the Great Outdoors'.

    In Science, we explored how some materials can change shape by stretching, twisting, squashing or bending.

                    

     

    We learnt about Chinese New Year and we used chopsticks to pretend to eat our 'noodles'.

        

     

    Year 1 completed arrays during the multiplication unit in Maths.

      

    In Geography, we discussed the weather in the UK.  We are keeping a weather diary to observe any weather patterns. 

       

    We continued practising our joining techniques in DT.  We used stapling and whip stitch to join two pieces of materials together.  

        

    In PE, we controlled the ball using our hands and using the correct part of our foot to dribble the ball to our partner.
