    Week 7

What a busy last week of this half term! This week we completed our 'Independent Write' finishing the innovated story of Rumplestiltskin. Wow, our work was so impressive! We have also enjoyed drawing in the style of Lowry, creating figures in a matchstick style and drawing figures that show an action. We ended our Christianity topic sharing a snack together and listening to a wonderful story called 'Harvest Days' by Kate DePalma. The story gives an enticing look at harvest rituals, foods, and festivities from around the globe. The children really enjoyed finding out about some diverse global traditions and the shared joy of eating together. On Friday we went on an Autumnal nature walk around the school grounds. We collected the most beautiful leaves we could find. We really enjoyed creating lion manes, leaf fairies, leaf people and hedgehogs using these. The staff in Pine class would like to wish our children and their families a very happy and restful half term holiday.

    Week 6

This week we have continued with our innovated write based on the traditional tale Rumplestiltskin. Our ideas are superb and we are using the modelled example beautifully to help us with our own writing. We are trying to use the cursive script and also to include all necessary punctuation too. Wow, Mrs Kennerley is so proud of us! We have enjoyed completing a sound investigation in Science, listening to and predicting what was inside mystery pots using our hearing. This week on Friday as part of our PRSHE, we celebrated World Mental Health Day 2025. We enjoyed lots of varied activities, such as mindfulness relaxation and breathing to teach us about the importance of looking after our mental health. We also enjoyed welcoming visitors into our classroom during the school open morning on Wednesday. We were pleased and proud to show them our work and to explain the activities we were involved in. We've had some great homework submissions this half term, well done children.

    Week 5

This week we went to the polling station to vote for two candidates from our class to become school councillors. We enjoyed the voting process and are really pleased to have elected two councillors who we think will do a marvellous job. Well done to those children. We had a fabulous start to the week with a visit from Godly Play. We discovered more about 'The Story of Creation' and had the opportunity to play with various artefacts and be involved in some creative craft too. Thank you to Kim and the rest of the Godly Play team for another super visit. We have been very busy measuring in Maths this week. We have used metre rulers, 30cm rulers and balance scales to measure and weigh a variety of objects.

    Week 4

This week many children in Pine class returned their Manifesto and enjoyed sharing it with the class. The children did exceptionally well reading to their peers. We are looking forward to visiting the polling station in school next week and voting for our preferred candidates. We completed our amazing story maps this week in English and we have started to plan our innovation of Rumplestiltskin. We have continued to be busy in Science, exploring the five senses. We really enjoyed the taste and smell investigations. We have been involved in more outdoor learning this week. We went outside for PE and a SPAG session too.

    Week 3

This week we really enjoyed finishing the story Rumplestiltskin. The children were so excited to find out if Lily guessed the goblin's name and what happened to the goblin. We have started to create a story map which will help us to retell and innovate the story. This week we found out about the Christian celebration of the Harvest Festival. We had lots of fun creating our own harvest plates using a range of craft resources. We have been busy exploring levers and sliders in DT, and we enjoyed finding out about a range of designers, such as, George Capewell who invented windscreen wipers. In Geography this week we looked at a range of maps identifying how places looked from an aerial view. We then created a messy map of the classroom before transferring it and drawing it onto our own map.

    Week 2

What a busy week! We are really enjoying the text Rumplestiltskin in English and we have been involved in lots of short writing opportunities about this. This week in PE we have continued to practise the skill of bouncing a ball. Our skills are developing wonderfully. In Maths, we have used Base 10 apparatus and Place value counters to represent two-digit numbers. We really enjoyed playing a game called 'Exchange Up'. We rolled a die and collected that number of ones. Once we had ten or more ones, we exchanged ten ones for one ten rod. The winner was the first to fifty. This week we have also enjoyed exploring sketching pencils in Art.

    Week 1

We have all settled beautifully into Pine Class. This week we have enjoyed getting to know each other and have completed a range of fun activities to help us do this. We have made 'All About Us' rainbows, played a board game called 'All About Me' and we went on a nature treasure hunt outside to enjoy spending time together.
