This half term, our curriculum is bursting with curiosity and creativity! In Geography, we’re exploring what life is like in the majestic Alps, while in History, we're uncovering stories hidden in the census to learn more about our local area. Our English lessons dive into the imaginative world of science fiction and the clarity of information texts. In Art, we're investigating self-portraits by a range of artists, and in DT, we're discovering how pulleys and gears make things move. Science brings hands-on investigations into mixtures and separation, and in RE, we're learning about the beliefs and practices of Islam. PE keeps us active with football and orienteering, while Music sets the scene with powerful film scores. ICT focuses on communication and sharing information, and in French, we're tuning into sounds and pronunciation. Through PRSHE, we're building understanding and respect in our relationships. It’s a half term full of exploration, expression, and exciting discoveries!

    WB: 15.09.25

We've had a busy and exciting week in class, filled with creativity, learning, and a touch of early festive spirit!

📝 Making Our Writing More Interesting
This week, we've been focusing on how to make our writing more engaging by varying our sentence openers. The children have been exploring different ways to start their sentences—using adverbs, prepositional phrases, and even starting with a simile—to add variety and flair to their writing. It's been wonderful to see their confidence grow as they experiment with new techniques!

    🎄 Christmas Card Designs
Yes, we know it's early—but we're already getting into the festive spirit by designing Christmas cards! These beautiful creations will soon be sent home with an option to purchase, helping raise valuable funds for the school. Keep an eye out over the next few weeks for your child’s design—perfect for sending to family and friends while supporting our school.

    🔢 Place Value in Maths
In maths, we've been deepening our understanding of place value. The children have been working hard to recognise the value of each digit in a number and use this knowledge to solve problems and explain their reasoning. It's a key skill that lays the foundation for so much of their future maths learning, and we're proud of the progress they're making.

    WB: 01.09.25

We are so pleased to see how well the children have settled into their new year groups this week. It’s been a fantastic start to the term, with lots of exciting learning already underway. We’ve been exploring our school rules and class values, helping to build a strong foundation for a positive and respectful learning environment. In PRSHE, we’ve begun our unit on relationships, encouraging thoughtful discussions and personal reflection. Our new class novel, The Kid Who Came from Space by Ross Welford, has captured everyone’s imagination and sparked great enthusiasm for reading. In History, we’ve started investigating what the census can tell us about our local area—an engaging way to connect past and present through real-world data.
