This term, we will be exploring a range of exciting topics across different subjects. In History, we will study the Ancient Maya to learn about their civilisation, culture and achievements. In Science, we will investigate plant reproduction and how plants grow and produce new life. Our Religious Education will focus on learning about the Five Pillars of Islam and their importance to Muslims. Alongside our classroom learning, in PE, we will also develop our physical skills and teamwork through athletics.
We can't wait to get started!
In art this week we have been starting to plan and create our project ready for the Pendle art gallery. We have been studying the artwork A Muse by Cosimo Tura. We were interested in the clothes from the artwork, how clothes were made in the past and using the children's new-found love of crochet, we have been practising and developing our skills. We cannot wait to show you the final, whole class piece.

In history, we have been exploring the Mayans and their beliefs in how the world started and some of the gods and goddesses they believed. We explored the school to find facts about different gods/goddesses and discuss why the Mayans might have prayed to each one.

In Maths, we have taken some of our maths lessons outside. We used the opportunity to recap our rounding skills of rounding 3-digit numbers to the nearest ten and being able to explain why we got to the number.

In Computing, we have been creating short animations based off our English work of The Pied Piper. The children did an excellent job of creating their favourite scenes from the books.

In Maths, we have been focusing time and solving time word problems. This has been a tricky concept for the pupils, but they have worked extremely hard on this and have done such a good job.

In PE, we have been exploring relay races and thinking about how we can pass the relay baton on in the shortest time possible. We put all our skills to the test this week.

In Geography, we have looked at how we can trade responsibly and look after farmers using charities and companies like Fair trade to support farmers around the world. We created PowerPoints with Miss Fenton and Mrs Whitehead about our learning.

This week, we have enjoyed a lovely PE lesson with Beech class focusing on the push throw distance and accuracy as well as developing our sprinting technique. We all enjoyed mixing with another class and sharing our technique and skills.

This week we have been very lucky and are enjoying our reward day on the inflatable, having lots of fun with our friends. We have then been testing are spelling skills outside testing are friends using a range of games in the sunshine!
In English this week we have looking at non-chronological reports. We have been picking out key features and have created our own fictional creatures to based our own non-chronological reports on.
