Downloadable version:

Science

This week we would like you to experiment. We are investigating how water and nutrients are transported through a plant from the roots to the stem.

You will need:

  • A celery stick(s) with leaves attached
  • A container half filled with water
  • Food colouring

Watch the following clip – scroll down to number 5.

Place your celery in a container with water and add at least 5 drops of food colouring. Leave the celery for at least 24 hours. Watch what happens. Try to make careful observations of the celery. You can record in photographs, annotated drawings or words.

Geography

A local study

Linking with our Maths this week, collect information and data about different types of shops in Clitheroe. Make a tally chart to show the number of cafés, supermarkets, butchers, hairdressers, clothing shops and opticians. If possible turn your data into a graph. Remember to label the axis and to give your graph a title.

DT

Shelters

We would like you to design a structure to keep a plant safe. Your structure needs to be open to the air, allow for watering and offer some protection from the wind.

Create an annotated sketch of your design and label the materials and the components needed. Look back at last week’s construction videos as a guide for strengthening structures.

Music

Play the Clap Along Game at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4vZ5mlfZlgk&list=PLeeFu86BZV5n0_mWu-tCqFfIKy8gMvDXS. Watch as the notes pass by and try to time your clap to the note length.

PSHE

Wellbeing

We would like you to participate in our Pendle Primary Virtual Sports Day. We would like you to try and complete 5 activities on the 2nd July or over the course of the week if you prefer.

Remember to support your team and have fun. Please look at the activities on your class page to choose the events you wish to try.

RE

Christianity – What makes a good leader?

Think about commitment. How could you show commitment to an activity or a club?

Think about the ways in which you can strive to undertake badges, reach goals and achieve. Think about the time element. Do you participate weekly in your chosen club? Do you need to practise in between your sessions?

Create a poster to encourage someone to join your club or activity.
