Mrs McLeod teaches in 3K on a Thursday morning. The Geography topic this half term is the environment. The children will be investigating what we call waste and how we can reduce, reuse and recycle. Today the children will be considering what types of products/materials can be recycled and what cannot. Why not take a look at a variety of packaging at home to see if it is recyclable? Discuss the coloured refuse bins we have at home and make a list what goes into each. Then discuss recycling points in Clitheroe, where are they? Do you use them?
Finally discuss where else our waste can be recycled and consider charity shops as another way of reducing what we throw away.
English
SPAG (Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar) Today the children will be looking at conjunctions like 'because', 'and' and 'if'. These are called subordinating conjunctions because they link a main clause and a subordinate clause together in a sentence. We will then be watching the Paddington Tea Room film clip on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBku6tXLDo4 The clip shows Paddington and Mr Brown enjoying tea and cake in a tea room at Paddington station. Teaching Mr Brown how to speak 'bear' is not as simple as it looks! See what Paddington thinks of Mr Brown's impression! The children will then write in the role of Paddington focussing on all his senses. What does he see, hear, taste and touch in the tea room. If possible try to use some of the subordinating conjunctions from today's SPAG and remember to think carefully about word choices such as using adjectives to describe the cakes and adverbs to describe the noises in the tea room.
Maths
Today for our Maths starter we are going to be adding 10 to a two-digit number. We are taking our learning outside and we are going to run to various number stations. But at home you could roll a dice twice to generate a two-digit number or ask an adult to say the number for you. We are then going to be adding two two-digit numbers.
