Summer 2

Week 2

This week we are continuing to look at the collection of Brer Rabbit Folk Tales. On Monday we referred to the story map we created last week and we wrote beginning of the story 'Brer Fox, Brer Bear, Brer Rabbit and the Peanut Patch.' We aimed to write in paragraphs, include inverted commas for speech and use interesting sentence openers. Wow, we really impressed Mrs Kennerley with our use of double adjectives, speech and varied sentence openers, well done 3P!

Week 1

We started the week by watching a film clip about a native tribesman who wanders into a hunter's camp and finds out that he's the prey. A chase ensues and conflict breaks out.

It made us question  who was the hunted and who was the hunter. We researched the meaning of the word hunted and we found a range of Synonyms using a Thesaurus. We know synonyms are words that the same or similar meanings. We then wrote a piece of writing about the boy and the hunter and included the synonyms we had found.

Later on in the week we started looking at a collection of Brer Rabbit Folk Tales. We compared and contrasted characters, detailed key events and made predictions about what might happen in the stories. We also created story maps to show key events in the tales too.
