PSHE Theme: Rights and Responsibilities. We have been learning about our responsibilities, things that we are in charge of. We focused on our environment and planet. We spoke about we only have one earth and it is so important to protect it. A big focus was on litter and recycling. We used lots of cardboard and other materials which were going to go in the bin, and use them to make new things. We also made posters to remind people to put their litter in the bin. We also enjoyed reading with our year six buddies. They read different books about the environment and the planet to us.

β€œDon’t lose it, reuse it!”

We made the most of the spring sunshine to go on a spring walk, and draw pictures of what we could see!

We LOVED taking part in the FOPS Bunny Hop! Thank you to our grown ups for coming to watch and cheer us on, and to FOPS for organising! What a perfect day for laps of the cricket field!

We are really enjoying our balanceability sessions.

Happy Holi! We have learned about the Hindu celebration, Holi! We enjoyed dropping or spraying gulal (powder paint) on our drawings to represent the Holi parties where those celebrating end up covered in paint! Holi is the festival of colour!

WC 14th March

We discussed how Comic Relief Day is all about raising money to help others. We watched the video about Teddy below and how the money raised helped him. Talking about our superhero costumes, we explored how superheroes are people who help others and how anybody can be a superhero! We enjoyed lots of superhero themed activities in our provision.

We have been exploring teen numbers as groups of 10 and some more.

Life Education Visit from Emma to talk about our bodies and how to keep them healthy, and grow to be strong!

We’re going on a colour hunt! We enjoyed searching for colours, and using the iPad to take (lots of!) pictures!

We practised our cutting skills to make our own glasses!

Super recording of doubles!

Anna’s Amazing Multi-Coloured Glasses. Each day, Anna’s amazing glasses showed her a new colour! Our sand tray will represent a new colour each day this week. Tomorrow, we will investigate transparent and opaque materials to identify the best material for glasses. We will then make our own multicoloured glasses later this week.

Doubles! Lots of opportunities to practise doubles to 5. We say, β€œdouble, double, add the same again” to remind us how to double numbers.

Phonics Lucky Dip! Take a word from the gift bag, read it and write it. Super!

WC 28th February

Drop everything and read! We loved sharing our books with our friends.

Super outfits! Celebrating non-fiction.

Mrs Davy brought her puppy to school, and a non fiction book about dog training! We enjoyed using the information to train her puppy to walk smartly,

Listening to Julie Edwards, a local author!

We read the story β€˜Little Cloud.’ We looked for shapes in the clouds and made our own cloud shape pictures.

We enjoyed drawing together on a giant piece of paper.

We have been using the words “heavy” and “light”, using balance scales to help us understand which item weighs more.

Pancake Day! I think you can tell from the smiles how excited we were to make pancakes. Super duper turn taking, and excellent manners as we sat and ate our pancakes with our group.

We have learned about pancake day! We wrote shopping lists so Miss Zak could buy toppings for our own pancakes!

Baking with Mrs Hailwood! We are so lucky to have Mrs Hailwood who will be baking with us on alternate Tuesday mornings! This term, each group will make melting moments! They tasted delicious!
