Spring 1

We love reading!

We have been creating imaginary animals. We have been writing about our animals using the vocabulary we have learnt this half term. We used words such as scaly, stripy and extinct.

Animal Day was a huge success and so much fun. We celebrated all of our wonderful learning this half term and completed lots of different animal challenges. The children also completed a Safari with Mrs Davy. Thank you for all your efforts with the children’s costumes, they were brilliant.

We entered the classroom to find that our mysterious egg had hatched but the animal had escaped! We found dinosaur footprints and fossils. We made binoculars and wrote some instructions on how to trap a baby dinosaur.

We have been packing suitcases for the penguin and the boy to take to the Antarctica!

We introduced the story of ‘Lost and Found’. We enjoyed getting into character. We thought about what the boy might have be thinking when he opened his door and found a penguin, just like we did!

After the penguin arrived in our classroom, we thought about how he might be feeling. We used words such as worried, petrified and lonely!

Here are our reactions to finding the lost Penguin!

We have had an unexpected visitor... a lost Penguin! We have been taking good care of him.

We listened to a poem called 'Cold' by Shirley Hughes. After, we created our own Winter poems using the pictures we took on our Winter walk. We hope you enjoy listening to some of them (videos below).
