SPAG

The apostrophe for contraction

In SPAG today we have been learning how to correctly punctuate an apostrophe for possession. Apostrophe and the letter 's' are used to show possession. It is important to put the apostrophe in the correct place, either before the 's' or after the 's', depending on whether the subject is singular or plural.

For example:
The cat's tail was fluffy. Cat is a singular noun so you need to add an apostrophe and "s" to show that the tail belongs to the cat.

We had a treasure hunt finding names and possessions and then recording these.
