Rights & Responsibilities

Harold's environment project - We discussed the environment and what people, animals and plants need to survive in their environment. We heard about Harold and his role as school councillor and how the teachers had asked Harold and the members of the council to consider ways that they could help the school environment. We thought of many great ideas through discussion. We talked about light monitors, water meters and compost bins for food waste.

Earning money - We discussed what 'earning money' means and talked about who earns money. We then moved onto talking about wheteher everyone who has a job earns the same amount of money and why not. We discussed the various duties performed by a worker, the knowledge they need to know to be able to do the job, the qualities they need or the training. We then orered jobs in the order of who should be paid the most to who should be paid the least. What wonderful discussions we had in pairs.

Helping each other stay safe - We looked at a variety of photographs showing different locations. We considered who helps us in these different places and how they help us. We also thought about why they help us, for example to keep us safe or healthy. We then created an illustration and included speech bubbles to show the helper and person they are helping in conversation.
