Individual liberty

Individual Liberty

Within school, pupils are actively encouraged to make choices, knowing that they are in a safe and supportive environment. Pupils are encouraged to know, understand and exercise their rights and personal freedoms and advised how to exercise these safely. In doing so children are encouraged to develop their self-knowledge, self-esteem and self-confidence

They are encouraged to do this in the following ways :

  • E-Safety week
  • PSHE theme days – where stereotypes are challenged
  • Anti-bullying Day
  • Model freedom of speech through pupil participation, while ensuring protection of vulnerable pupils and promoting critical analysis of evidence
  • Behaviour Policy – encourage children to take responsibility for their own behaviour
  • Providing children with responsibilities eg assembly , library and house point monitors
