Geography

A small area of the Uk- Clitheroe

As geographers we started the unit by considering where on earth was Clitheroe. We revised the different continents and the different countries that make up the United Kingdom. We also looked at the different capitals cities of each United Kingdom country. We used atlas books and online maps to help us navigate and identify where on earth we could find Clitheroe.

After recapping last weeks learning, we used our knowledge of place to map some of the human and physical features of Clitheroe.

You can practise identifying human and physical geography here-

This week we have been researching famous landmarks of the United Kingdom. We used the iPads to research different landmarks- we asked questions about the landmarks and the used the geographic language to describe the landmarks. For example if the landmark was in the northwest, if it was human or physical feature.

We carried out some fieldwork to look at the human and physical features on our local landscape. We also made links between the maps and the aerial photographs we have been looking at, to see if we could find a known place by reading the landscape.
