The Great Fire of London Day was a huge success!

We built Tudor houses while talking about why the fire spread so quickly!

We had fun drawing pictures of Samuel Pepys and discussing how we know about the Great Fire.

We enjoyed baking bread!

We enjoyed finding out about Samuel Pepys and his diary. We wrote our own diaries, thinking about what the people could see, smell and hear during the Great Fire.

We used quills, just like Samuel Pepys!

We have been sorting pictures related to the Great Fire of London according to whether they are from the past or the present. We have been thinking about why the fire spread so quickly and how it would be different if it happened today.

We have been reenacting some of the key events.

“We have made the Great Fire of London in the sand.”

We have been learning about when, where and why the Great Fire of London started.

We have been busy learning all about why we wear Poppies at this time of year. Before discussing the meaning of Remembrance Day, we watched the beautiful CBeebies Poppies Animation. Using different art materials, children made their own Poppies.

We remember ❤️

We listened to a story about Captain Tom Moore. We discussed his bravery, along with the other soldiers.

We started our topic, "Fire, Fire!" by having a visit from the fire station and talking about fire safety. We discussed how fires are fought today. We went on a walk around school to find evidence of fire safety equipment and notices. We then introduced the children to the Great Fire of London. We looked at some of the fire equipment they used in 1666. Can the children tell you what they are?
